Welcome back!

I remember that one!... I was late for 15 seconds!! ;) ;)

Yes, and i started a battle with the seller for 10 days! he asked me to pay the item about 250 dollars cause he posted the auction with a wrong "buy it now" price.

i do hope you won

Welcome back!
And congrats for those great items!

I doubt that this was a mistake. Probably he had a few private offers AFTER the auction ended and he then realized his "mistake"!
I hope you won the case ;)

Ok, enough messing around... ;) Here's the scoop on the "Gold Backspacer." Kev, your recent post certainly reignited my interest but I first found out about the gold Backspacer award from Tom Tommorow's blog:

http://thismodernworld.com/archives/5145

It was just coincidence that after reading Kev's post, one appeared on eBay a few weeks later. After staring at the auction a few times I just couldn't resist hitting the BIN. But when I received the award, this is what I found:

Image

The gold LP had become unglued. Since there was no way I was returning this, I had no choice but to carefully remove the backing and disassemble the frame. Plus, there is a sticker on the back with name of the framing company and they are only an hour away from me so worst case, I could bring it to them for repairs. But it was actually much easier that I though and I did little damage in the process.

And here's the back of the LP:

A dummy vinyl painted gold with a Backspacer label placed on the front. No surprise to me but mystery solved. It is a very striking award in person.

I was thinking, since the frame is still opened should I change the name on the plaque to read PJCollectors??

Crazy Sam

But a real award you think? Is the RIIA hologram genuine?

Paul, I see no reason this would not be legit. The hologram looks genuine and I checked out the framing company and they are authorized by the RIAA to make these awards. Plus, it is identical to the one presented to Tom Tomorrow. I looked up the recipient as well and he seems to be involved with radio broadcasting and must have deserved credit for helping promote the album and for playing The Fixer umpteen thousands of times. ;)
