*damaged* Istanbul 96 Ames

Postby VicSpeed » Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:27 pm

Hi all.

I have this one I'd like to frame... The poster is not mint as you can see....

Any advice about how to proceed?... can i fix this little (but terrible) damage?

Should I frame this "as is" and put it on my walls?

Hi Vic,

I guess it depends on how the rip looks when flattened to the image. Is it visible or can the damage be hidden through the paper being pressed back together with a hairline print loss maybe? The trick will be how you matt the print. There are various poster restoration places that would work with the rip but I believe they are hideously pricey.

I would think a good framer will be able to minimise the exposure of that rip significantly.

In the meantime I will text you over a picture of my friends frame job he just had done on this poster. looks tremendous. Purely to provide ideas and inspiration

This is a beauty print. One rip does not take away from this print. I say go forward with framing it. Paul is right in saying that once it's framed the rip will be flat and barely noticeable. Plus down the road if an opportunity presents itself to get a mint copy you can swap out the ripped one.

Great print. Hope to see a picture posted here of the finished framed product.

I'd google restoration glue. That tear could be easily and Inexpensively repaired.
