Backspacer - Island Records / Universal Music connection?

Backspacer promo here http://www.pjcollectors.com/detail.asp?id=1795 says "property of Island Records a division of Universal Music".

What is the link with Monkeywrench and this? Do they sub-contract to Universal for promotion? It also says the copyright belongs to them. I'm confused :|
