Postby theserialthrilla » Thu Nov 01, 2012 11:52 am

hi all

Image

just got this vinyl off ebay..and i noticed the inner label is different from the one on pjc..

the sleeve looks correct..

i have seen that a few boots got pressed in around 2000 but get the cat# wrong so easy to stop..

a few are listed now on ebay and other sites..one seller atm has it listed as in his collection for 20 years..

thoughts ??

A&M UK used that logo on labels for vinyl pressings during the early 90's period (for example soundgarden's badmotorfinger UK pressing LP)
We need a closer scan of the label and the matrix numbers in order to have a better opinion.

Can't tell much from the cover as these seem to be all pressed in the same plant or with the same details written (check the Holland pressing on the back where it is written ("country of manufacture as stated on label")

There's a thread on the PJ board too with a good picture of the label:

yeah that comes from an old topic from pjc i think.

Generally this label looks like the official A&M UK label. (not like the fake A&M label on those black/green/red/clear bootleg TOTD vinyls that can be found everywhere)

BUT
label posted by the OP at the PJ board states "Made in the EEC". Really? In 1991? It is strange.

So check these examples. A&M UK labels from around the same period:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Sting-Soul-Cages ... ~60_57.JPG
http://img1.jpegbay.com/gallery/002003434/5_f.jpg
http://eil.com/Gallery/260560b.jpg

All "Made in England".

So this TOTD vinyl is either:
1. A very well made fake
2. A later EU reissue (why haven't we heard/saw anything all those years?)

I vote for the first. But still not 100% sure...

Hi guys. :)

I was the OP on the PJ board. Yep! That's what I was wondering. Some things seem to be really strange about that. I'd say, basically, they look legit (more than some TOTD boots) but:

-The origin is unclear (and I've never heard about TOTD pressed in the UK before)
- Why do some of them appear now (never seen them before)?

BTW, I confirm that the second link I gave comes from here. ;)

By the way, Kevin.

The guy whom picture you posted seems to be serious:

http://vimeo.com/3989585

His name is Leon West, he did this vid and he appears in it. He's a vinyl addict. That said, it doesn't mean he didn't get screwed when he bought this one. ;)

I am worried about the "Made in the EEC" too. But the EEC was part of time when the album
was released. Question is if there are more records from different artists with this label.

True. Hunger strike 12" has "made in the EEC" on the label.
(we have it listed as "UK" on pjc because the matrix number matches the UK code located on top of sleeve. I'm pretty sure there is a another pressing matrixed with the 580091-2 probably from germany or holland)

So the matrix numbers on that TOTD LP probably will give us more details about this pressing. Can you help us on that one Hub.?

Not from UK for sure. EEC consisted of 12 countries back then. UK is out. We have 11 left

That's interesting: the number "395 350" is there.

Besides, when you google, most of the vinyl starting with DFI92 seem to be UK versions (pressed in the UK or the EEC).

Apparently, this manufacturer is located in France: http://www.crimson-ceremony.net/pr3/mf/reference.php

And the pressing seems to have occured on November 1992

Just had a look at my DOTU vinyl. I got the exact same matrix. :)

It's getting more and more interesting.

"DFI" is also etched on Hunger Strike 12" and 12" promo.
Date etched on "Hunger Strike" is 92-9 while on TOTD LP is 92-11.
It can be assumed that these were pressed around the same time in France by Disco France Industrie?
