gold and platinum discs

can someone confirm if the gold / plat discs on ebay are real (ie awarded ones)?

if not can someone explain what it is about gld discs. can anyone make them and frame them? I saw the most beautiful one through eil years back for 10 that looked incredible but have never seen one like it since.....

I presume a lot of them on eBay are fake simply cause there's a market for it and someone will buy. The real ones are surely hung on record company walls or in the vaults of the band?
