ORANGE PROMO FIXER 45

Postby grdesigner » Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:44 am

So, the rarity of this vinyl has intrigued me since I first saw Adam from East Street Records post on the Official Forum. Soon after he posted his photos on the forum the whole Twitter scavenger hunt started in the United States only. In trying to potentially determine how many of these were pressed, I went to the twitter page and made a list of every single give away location and I came up with the list below. With a total of 49 promos given away between September 14th and October 15th to lucky record store winners and the one personally given to Adam of East Street we now have 50 in known circulation.

Thanx for the list it ...it wil take u much time...

honestly i count more than 20 copies on ebay since the first october's days and i'm quite sure that i have missed other bin and other auctions closed in few minutes with fast private offers!!

My impression is that we'll continue other copies,,,

grdesigner wrote:A bunch of these have showed up on eBay and the prices are pretty crazy. In my opinion this is probably the 3rd rarest Pearl Jam vinyl behind only the Columbian Blue Vs. and the Into the Wild picture disc which technically is not Pearl Jam so I guess I should say the 2nd rarest vinyl. What do you guys think? Here are what they have sold far thus far on eBay... I am missing a few.

Absolutely no!!!!if u dont consider the INTW PDK but only Pj items.....these are more rarer, without any sort of doubts...than a fix orange

if u are in the pjcoll since long time,u should know it:

http://www.pjcollectors.com/detail.asp?id=345

and the latest addition too.....no need to comment:

Honestly i dont how many fixer's orange buyers understand what is a testpress and ,most important thing, the incredible rarity of the daughter black!!!!!!!!
these are not simply the rarest vinyls...these 2-3 vinyls are in top items impossible to find since long time ago..
i don't the fixer is the same thing...
Mention this to me

Hey Dave, thanks for the insight. I am a collector but I don't know all the numbers. Obviously test pressings are the rarest but I didn't even realize that the Fixer test pressing was out there. I am still intrigued with the orange promo fixer vinyl :) It would be cool if someone on here who is a vinyl collector gave their ideas on what are... say the top 10 or 15 rarest pearl jam vinyl's in existence...

the top ten....in my opinion!!!

Related discography not included (so INTW pdk too).

10) http://www.pjcollectors.com/detail.asp?id=1695

the orange fix needs time to understand how much is really rare...too many copies on ebay to say that it's an hard piece to find...
while many people ignore that given and wishlist holland UNnumbered.....are not so common!!!!

other 5 nice vinyls are Even and Jeremy 12 Mexican promo...obviously, the Bena...jeremy 7" holland (with the kid on cover)...and personally the Even Volcom but the 2nd press limitated to 1000copies...i think that no one recognizes its right value...it became very hard to find very soon...
i still must say a great thanx to a special person, here, that was able to find me a copy!!

Dave,

Thanks for the list, I really didn't know about all of these rare records. I know that test pressings are extremely rare but I didn't even know they existed for certain records! I do understand exactly what you are saying about the orange promo, I think because the first one went sky high on eBay, others followed and sold them for these big prices! I wish their was a definitive way to find out amounts pressed!!! Your email was very informative :)

I can't comment on this vinyls, is nice and all but fuck from $350 to $600 for this? I rather buy another benny! but i can understand if a real collector need to have one, but what i can't understand is the fact that some fans go into the scavenger hunt just to sell it, not matter the color orange, blue or black the only color that matter is green (and i'm not talking about the "rare" green promo Vs  )!... well C'est la vie i guess

Great list George! I have about 8 or 9 more on my watch list that have sold so I think Dave is right with the total eBay sales being around 20 copies. While the true rarity of this vinyl is yet to be determined, I think it has more widespread appeal among fans who are not hard-core collectors due to the way it was marketed. Most fans don't know about the black Holland Daughter or the test pressing but certainly know of the elusive blue Vs and it's bastard child, the Orange Fixer. Viva la vinyl!! 8-)

Yeah, I know I missed a bunch of them so I just compiled the ones that were on my watch list over the past few weeks, if you want me to add them to the post, just drop me a PM and I can add it on or just post it and I will add it. One is actually ending in an hour and it is so far at $414.95 with 11 bids so far. I would be really surprised if their were any more distributed from PJ's camp but you never know!

New to posting on the forums, but not new to the site. Sorry to bring an old thread back to the front page, but...

I'm the owner of #6 on the list at the top. I didn't know our other local shop had it available too.

You can add me to that list. I received one at midnight on 9/20/09 at the Record Exchange in Boise, ID. I sold it earlier this year so I could keep the lights on (to a collector, NOT on eBay). :)
