Honestly V? I'm not sure on these at all.
My belief is that Kevs is real. But this guy on eBay is knocking out fakes based off it.
Look at his feedback.... Constantly selling the same promo over and over. At least 8 triple pack oasis promo sets, same guy who was selling the fake Japanese acetates not so long back, and we know he is if not the same person at least linked to the 79 euro auction too - through past investigation and knowledge of paypal accounts used.
The main cause for concern is that yesterday Dave received a 'beware' email from his Uk industry source. Warning him of this fake guy. Saying he always sells fakes and to be very careful with this item.
I had already been suspicious of him after posting 4 in 5 mins plus the other account. So I had yesterday morning asked some questions. I received a rather aggressive reply.
Below I will post the emails between us yesterday to help you form your own opinion. But as someone involved in the collectors world - someone with knowledge of the tiny important details... When asked about your item - what would you do? Seek to calm those fears by giving out useful back up information and a discussion on why the disc is authentic? OR get a little pissed - tell your buyer that as a collector he should know better, trust his invisible and unknown source, and if you don't like my answer go away and I'll refund you? Something is strangely wrong here.
To finish this I tried to resolve thr situation by saying all I need from you is the disc matrix - so I can compare to a legit copy we do have 'in' our group which came from a universal source? A friendly email - to conclude authenticity easily. Again ask yourself what you would do bearing in mind I bought two copies, would you ignore me and refund or would you say 'yeah I understand with all the fakes around your concern - as I said these are legit.. Here's the matrix ' ..... I got ignored and he lost £60
Bizarre approach to 'cd/record' dealing.
Bottom line is we don't know for sure but I'm sure enough these were fakes. They may be good enough to some, as let's be honest it's a cd with a sticker and an insert that I'm sure will look great.... But not for me....
So everyone must make up their own minds on this, I'm just explaining the reason for my doubt
However as I have kevs matrix it would be helpful to have Sams too to compare and get a foundation of what makes these genuine.... If those are totally different - then I have no idea!!!!!!
Kevs source was given the chance more than once to supply another... And although he tried -couldn't get one... If he was one of bootleggers I'm sure he would have managed to get another as he has always got extras for Kev 'in' the past when I have asked him. I also feel that this guy couldn't have made his either as up to then no one had seen the artwork... It's perfectly feasible that magazines would get the cd to review that far in advance too. The price is always super low too. Yeah I'm extremely confident his is the real deal. And a template for fakes. Be carefull all
