Island are the record label in the Uk that PJ have signed to here for this release, as they cannot self promote here like they are in the US, so they are not going it alone over here

I really dont know which version this will be but do know its limited and numbered if that helps??

The man in my local indie shop told me that should be two releases of the 7", one numered (with glow in the dark sleeve) and one not.

Not a 'different' version of the Backspacer album (as far as I can tell) but this UK record store are offering a 3-track download from the O2 gig with pre-orders: http://www.townsend-records.co.uk.

I know some of you were lucky enough to be there, so thought you might be interested if you haven't already ordered all the versions! They are listing a 'Limited edition' CD and an LP - I assume they are the UK versions listed previously.

You are welcome Massimo!

Seems that there are two versions of the Backspacer CD being released in Japan: the standard CD (cat no. UICO-1171) and a Japan only SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) version (cat no. UICO-9047).

I have never heard of SHM-CD but according to the listing:
"The SHM-CD format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC & Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

absolutely true....from this year we have 2 japanese cd album: standard and Shm-cd

a quick example (obviously from Mets catalogue)...click on pic to enlarge:

standard:

http://cgi.ebay.com/METALLICA-Japan-PRO ... 286.c0.m14

Shm-cd:

http://cgi.ebay.com/METALLICA-Death-Mag ... 286.c0.m14

different obi and stickers on cover...so if we have the traditional promo versions (like in these 2links) with sticker on back cover and "sample" printed on disc...we must buy 4cd!!!
