What defines a collector

Postby kdyvelkov » Sun Jan 17, 2010 6:08 pm

I have been thinking about this for some time, what defines a PJ collector? I only collect cds, dvds and vinyl, no cassettes, no minidisc or vhs, and I don't collect different stuff like wallets, picks and stickers, I don't even have a t-shirt (my wife does :) ) the only thing I have is a full size metalic Yield sign that I got from a recordstore that saved it for me when they were cleaning, so am I a hardcore collector?

I feel like it, cause I'm going after as big a collection as I can (as all of you) and I collect side projects and related cds, vinyls and dvds.

What do you say? what does make a true collector?

Hope this will start a fine little interesting debate ;)

Well i think that every person who treasure whatever they have from pearl jam is a collector, there's different levels of dedication, the hard core collector who wants every little piece of merchandise/memorabilia available (and unavailable), then there's the poster collector, the cds collectors... and all the shades in between.

I'm kind of a casual collector, I don't collect anything in particular, but i looove vinyl, some awesome people gave me an incredible present (Soldier Field LP) so now i have all the official releases in vinyl, but I'm not close to have the more hard to find vinyls like the Blue Vs or the White Backspacer... but in my book I'm complete, until the next nice piece of memorabilia that catch my eye appear! ;)
